Our Core Values

Accessibility
When we say we believe storytelling and TTRPGs are for everyone, we mean for everyone. Often times, those with hearing or visual impairments are left on the sidelines when it comes to accessing media. Those with neurodivergencies sometimes feel left out of both stories and access to them. Many actual plays are strictly in English because of the strong Western focus.
Our goal is to make our media as accessible as possible: Closed-captions for the deaf and hard of hearing (eventually in multiple languages!); transcripts, alt-text, and visual descriptions for the blind and visual impaired; making visuals and sounds both engaging for those with ADHD and not overwhelming for autistic audiences. And, of course, if we’re missing something, let us know! We want you to be able to enjoy our stories and want to know how we can make it better and more accessible.
-

Collaboration
No story is written or composed in a vacuum. Authors and composers get ideas from their environments and cultures, editors help us tweak our ideas, and it always helps to bounce ideas off others! Community is so important, as is the exchange of ideas and concepts. Life is a learning journey that impacts how we interact with the world.
This is ESPECIALLY true of TTRPGs. While a Game Master has an overarching idea of where the story is meant to go, the players bring their own emotions, flavour, and ideas to their characters and the table. Once a campaign setting is published, others are going to shape that world. That’s what makes these games so exciting and interesting.
Being open to learning and absorbing new concepts, approaches, and directions helps make stories flourish. We want our stories to be shaped by everyone who wants to participate in the development of our worlds, be it through feedback, fan art, insights, or even new ideas to collaborate on!

Celebration
Mr. Fred Rogers said it best: “I hope that you’ll remember, even when you’re feeling blue, that it’s you I like.” Everyone brings something important and valuable to the table and that should be celebrated. What makes you different makes you special.
It should go without saying, then, that we are pro-2SLGBTQIA+, pro-feminism, pro-diversity, pro-equity, pro-inclusion, and want you to feel welcome here. Racism, colourism, ageism, ableism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, classism, and all forms of disenfranchisement is not and will not be tolerated. We recognise that some stories will address these topics; should something arise that requires a content or trigger warning, we will be sure to properly identify those moments in our recordings and descriptions.
Often times, people look at difference as something that separates them from others. We see it as an opportunity to learn, appreciate, and celebrate the beauty of our world and the different ways we all look at and interact with it.

Artist-Centred
ForgeWild is anti-AI. We vow to you that we will not utilise it in our content and products, nor will we platform it in our fan art submissions and brand collaborations. Artificial intelligence may be advertised as making things “easier” but it certainly doesn’t grasp the beauty and humanity that is art.
All art featured on our website, in our campaign and promotional materials, and across our various media has been commissioned from real artists whose craft and skill have been honed and developed over time. All of our publications and podcasts are written and edited by real people who have a passion for storytelling and composition. Our company is for and by humans.

Global
Our company’s founders are South African and Canadian. We met online and have played with others in the United States, the UK, Australia, the EU, and beyond. We all have friends and family across the globe and love to travel, appreciating and enjoying all kinds of cultures, languages, landscapes, and traditions. ForgeWild reflects this through first-hand experiences and research, doing our best to embrace and celebrate all different perspectives, histories, and cultures through our narratives.
We also want to protect this planet as best we can. The beautiful landscapes, flora, and fauna of this world have inspired many of our stories in many ways. Thus, we do our best to work with environmentally conscious groups and offer environmentally conscious options for our products. Reducing our carbon footprint is a big part of who we are as we celebrate this beautiful planet we live on.
